How much Roberts & Denny’s pack depends on your quotation. If you are paying for a total service leave it all to the professionals. In any case, we can supply packing cartons and materials for your own use at reasonable cost.
Packing prices are usually very reasonable therefore always ask our estimator for a
separate price for packing. You will always receive some free cartons with your
removal, additional materials are available at an extra cost and can be delivered local
to our offices free of charge. If obtaining your own boxes you keep the size
consistent to ensure that they can be stacked and handled safely.
Do not overfill
cartons with books or excessively heavy items as overloaded boxes can split.
Packing yourself?
Please read the following for helpful tips and advice when packing your own personal effects.
When packing breakables: use large scrunches of paper to pad out the bottom of boxes and to create a cushion wall between items especially fragile items. Also scrunches of paper to fill hollow areas of fragile items. If an item is of exceptional value or sentimental/irreplaceable bubble wrap is recommended however is not necessary for all crockery as it can prove costly.
You can pack anything that fits into a box as long as it is packed securely. Things like bedding & linen are a useful and economic method for cushioning boxes and fragile items. Linen can also be placed in extra strength black bags or laundry bags.
Delicate Items: If you are concerned about any items such as plants, fine art, wine collections or antiques discuss them with our estimator in advance who will advise you.
Drawers: For solid furniture (not system or flat pack) as long as drawers are not overloaded and do not contain breakables they can usually stay as they are but do not lock them. Avoid over filling chests, sideboards or drawers.
